Are You a Christian?

That's a very good question to ask ourselves. What does the Bible say about it? That's another very good question for us to answer. Here is an article adapted from Doug Long that shows what Scripture says about our salvation & how to responsibly obey the Gospel.

Many will answer yes to this question. The Bible clearly tells us what we need to do to be saved, but many ignore what the bible says, especially when it comes to baptism. Many may say they are Christians, but are they?

1 John 5:13 says, "I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life." God has told us clearly what we must do so to know that we will be saved. He is the creator, and therefore he can dictate the terms of our salvation, and being a loving God, He made it easy for us to be saved.

We must hear: Romans 10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

We must believe: Acts 16:31 "So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

We must repent: Luke 13:3 "I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."

We must Confess our faith: Romans 10:10 "For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

We must be baptized: 1Peter 3:21 "There is also an anti type which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ."

Remember what the Bible says about the demons in James 2:19 "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that --and shudder."

Enter in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in there. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leads to life, and few there be that find it. Not every one that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.
